Meet Our Team
Chad Hutcheson, RN
Chad Hutcheson founded Serenity in 2006. Chad received his Associates Degree in Nursing from Middle Georgia College in 1994. Since then, he has worked in all areas of patient care including intensive care, trauma, and acute care. Chad is on the board of Serenity Foundation and Medixx Ambulance Transport. He also is a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Chad loves spending time with his family – his wife Julie (the Serenity Foundation Coordinator), their five daughters, and two grandchildren. He enjoys outdoor activities such as fishing, golfing, and hunting. Also, he is a member of the local chamber of commerce and part of civic organizations such as the rotary club.
Don Copeland, LCSW
Co-Owner, Chief Executive Officer
Don Copeland has served the Serenity team in a variety of positions since starting with the company as a social worker in 2006. From there he has worked off and on holding various titles including program coordinator, administrator, and CEO.
Don has a BS degree from North Georgia College and State University and a Master’s degree from Tulane University. He is a Veteran that served as an officer in the US Army as Captain Company Commander and was a Paratrooper.
Don and his wife Connie have lived in Dublin for 35 years, have two children and five grandchildren. They are very active in their community, supports all local school sports, loves to breed and show Arabian horses and they attend Liberty Baptist Church.
Dr. Robert Shuman
Corporate Medical Director
Dr. Robert Shuman joined Serenity Hospice Care when they opened in 2006. Dr. Shuman graduated from the Johns Hopkins Medical School in 1974, receiving the Upjohn award as the top graduate. Dr. Shuman practiced at Dublin Internal Medicine from 1977 to 2010.
He was the Co-founding Chairman of WINGS, United Way (Dublin-Laurens County), and Habitat for Humanity. He was and remains the founding medical director for the Joy Free Medical Clinic, providing health care to working people without insurance. He and his wife Susan enjoy spending time with their four children and three grandchildren.
Kim Wildes, RN, CHPN
Chief Operating Officer
Kim Wildes joined the Serenity team in 2007. She has been a registered nurse since 1998 and has worked in various settings including intensive care, medical/surgical, and ambulatory surgery prior to joining the hospice field. Kim has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgia Southern University.
Kim is a member of Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA), National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) and is a certified hospice and palliative care nurse (CHPN). When Kim is not working, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, traveling, and being outdoors. She and her husband Bryan have two sons, Karson and Reese.
