John Welch

President, Co-Owner, & RN

John Welch, alongside Chad Hutcheson, founded Serenity in 2006. John served as the CEO of Serenity Hospice before becoming part of the governing body. Before founding Serenity Hospice Care, he served as a licensed and registered nurse for 25 years in the acute care hospital setting. This greatly influenced his desire to exceed expectations in the hospice care industry.

John loves spending time with his wife, five children, and grandchildren. He also enjoys the lake, fishing, and other outdoor activities. Also, he is a member of the local chamber of commerce and part of civic organizations such as the rotary club.

Chad Hutcheson

Vice President, Co-Owner, & RN

Chad Hutcheson, alongside John Welch, founded Serenity in 2006. Chad received his Associates Degree in Nursing from Middle Georgia College in 1994. Since then, he has worked in all areas of patient care including intensive care, trauma, and acute care. Chad is on the board of Serenity Foundation and Medixx Ambulance Transport. He also is a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Chad loves spending time with his family – his wife Julie (the Serenity Foundation Coordinator), their five daughters, and two grandchildren. He enjoys outdoor activities such as fishing, golfing, and hunting. Also, he is a member of the local chamber of commerce and part of civic organizations such as the rotary club.

Dr. Robert Shuman

Corporate Medical Director

Dr. Robert Shuman joined Serenity Hospice Care when they opened in 2006. Dr. Shuman graduated from the Johns Hopkins Medical School in 1974, receiving the Upjohn award as the top graduate. Dr. Shuman practiced at Dublin Internal Medicine from 1977 to 2010.

He was the Co-founding Chairman of WINGS, United Way (Dublin-Laurens County), and Habitat for Humanity. He was and remains the founding medical director for the Joy Free Medical Clinic, providing health care to working people without insurance. He and his wife Susan enjoy spending time with their four children and three grandchildren.

Shanna Dupree

Chief Executive Officer & RN

Shanna Dupree has a deep appreciation for hospice care and the invaluable service it provides. She has been with Serenity Hospice Care for almost a decade but has many years as a field nurse, providing one-on-one care to patients and families. Shanna graduated with an associate’s degree in nursing from Middle Georgia College, and began her nursing career in the Women’s Center at Fairview Park Hospital providing care in the labor and delivery unit, nursery, and the post-partum unit. She now shares management and leadership responsibilities at Serenity.

Shanna and her husband Todd enjoy spending time with their son, Caden. They often take family adventures to the beach or to new cities. They enjoy their church, being part of outreaches, and giving back to their community.

Kristen Sweat

Chief Financial Officer

Kristen joined the Serenity team in 2016. Prior to her work in hospice, she worked in the accounting field for 10 years. Kristen graduated cum laude from Georgia Southern University in 2007 with a BBA and MBA in Accounting.

Outside the office, she loves spending time with her family, traveling, and watching sports. Kristen and her husband Matt have a daughter, Kamryn, and a son, Wyatt.

Brandi Rozier

Public Relations Director

Brandi Rozier joined Serenity in 2013 when she realized her passion to work in the health care field. She brings 14 years of exceptional marketing and management experience to Serenity. Before working in hospice, she worked for nine years in the newspaper and media business. Brandi graduated from Valdosta State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.

Brandi sits on the non-profit Serenity Foundation board where she is actively involved in planning fundraisers and events to benefit the patients of Serenity. When she is not working, she is spending time with her husband and two little girls. She enjoys reading, traveling, and being outdoors with her family.

Kim Wildes

Regional Director & RN

Kim Wildes joined the Serenity team in 2007. She has been a registered nurse since 1998 and has worked in various settings including intensive care, medical/surgical, and  ambulatory surgery prior to joining the hospice field. Kim has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgia Southern University.

Kim is a member of Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA), National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) and is a certified hospice and palliative care nurse (CHPN). When Kim is not working, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, traveling, and being outdoors. She and her husband Bryan have two sons, Karson and Reese.
